Dear interested parties, dear users of ÖNB Labs,
On the occasion of the project completion of “Data Analysis in the ÖNB Labs,” the ÖNB Labs are pleased to present four additional Jupyter Notebooks (JNBs) in our ÖNB Labs GitLab. The notebooks, developed by Sonja Dorfbauer, provide hands‑on methods for data analysis and visualization and open new insights into selected datasets of the Austrian National Library.
Content focus (selection)
- Historical flyers and printed ephemera: Guides on data transformation, string cleaning, and exploratory analysis of historical prints.
- Historical postcards (AKON): Visualizations of spatial patterns and temporal distributions; guidance on working with metadata.
- ÖNB API: A general introduction to using the ÖNB API to query open collection data, plus example code snippets for integration into your own workflows.
- Visualization methods: Practical examples of suitable chart types, interactive plots, and visual encoding for research‑based exploration.
